Tasty Treats, Drinks and Menu Ideas

Jell-O® Ponies
Purchase your child’s favorite flavors of Jell-O®. Follow the directions on the back of the package to make Jell-O Jigglers®. Use horse shoes, ponies, horses and different animal-shaped cookie cutters to create wiggly treats that are fun to eat!

Sugar Ponies

Similar to the Jell-O ponies, but you make them out of sugar cookies instead! Use your favorite horse and pony cookies cutters and then decorate to your delight! Another great idea is to use star shaped cookie cutters then decorate to make Sheriff badges!

Saddlebag Surprises
After a long, hot day on the ranch, satisfy your cowgirls and boys with these hearty pocket meals! Before the party, brown 1/2 lb. lean ground beef and 1/4 chopped onion in a frying pan. Drain grease and cool. Stir in a 12-oz. jar of pizza sauce, 2 Tbs. chopped olives, 1 tsp. dried, crushed basil, and 1/2 tsp. dried, crushed oregano. Slice 4 French rolls in half lengthwise. Hollow out the insides within 1/2 in. of the edges. Sprinkle grated cheese in the bottom, spoon meat mixture over it, and sprinkle more cheese on top. Place the tops of the rolls back on, wrap each in foil, and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Serves 4.

Pigs in a Blanket
Your guests are sure to squeal over these delectable delights. Purchase your favorite brand of hot dogs, cheese, and refrigerator croissants. Slice hot dogs lengthwise and cut cheese into strips. Unroll croissants and stuff them with hot dogs and cheese. Roll croissants back up and bake as directed, or until golden brown.

These delicious treats are so good, your party guests will clean every last crumb from their plates. Don't be surprised if they make pigs of themselves and come back for more!

Campfire S’mores
If you can’t have a real campfire to roast marshmallows, you can easily make these old favorites in your microwave. Simply place two squares of chocolate on half of a graham cracker. Heat in the microwave until the chocolate is shiny, but not melted. Let each guest add marshmallows and put the other half of the graham cracker on top. Remind everyone that the chocolate is HOT so that no one burns his or her mouth. Note: Graham cracker halves and chocolate can also be placed in the oven under the broiler. Be sure to keep an eye out so that the chocolate doesn’t burn!

Beans and Dogs
Set the mood and serve hotdogs, pork and beans on tin plates. Seat your guests in a circle, as if they are eating around a campfire!

Trail Mix
Set out a healthy trail treat for your guests to munch on while everyone arrives, during games, etc. To make your own trail mix, combine your child’s favorite ingredients, such as raisins, chocolate pieces, pretzels, cereal, or nuts. Provide a mix without nuts if one of your guests is allergic to them.

Nature’s Bounty
This is truly a feast for your eyes, as well as a snacker’s delight. Everyone is happy because it’s also a great nutritional meal. On a large decorative tray, arrange a variety of visually appealing treats. Include some lettuce or parsley for filler and greens. Here are just a few of the many possibilities you can include at your feast.

(1.) Cheese cubes of various types made fancy and easy-to-serve by inserting a frilly toothpick. Crackers make a great addition to this snack.

(2.) Ham and cream cheese rolls. Spread softened cream cheese on thinly-sliced ham and roll it up. Add pineapple to the cream cheese for a sweeter tasting treat. Slice rolls into one-and-a-half-inch lengths.

(3.) Celery sticks filled with peanut butter. Use celery ends and keep the feathery greens on for extra frills.

(4.) Fruit kabobs. Select any fruit in season, use a melon baller on cantaloupe, watermelon, and honeydew melons. Spear one of each, as well as grapes, strawberries, and banana slices, and display them in the middle of your tray, sticking out of an upside-down half melon.

 Lovely Lemonade
You can quench any horse lover’s thirst with this colorful lemonade. Freeze cranberry juice in small-cubed ice trays and prepare lemonade according to directions, in advance. When serving, drop several cranberry cubes into each glass of lemonade and watch as "pink lemonade" magically appears!

Cactus Juice
Pour lemon-lime soda into a large punch bowl. Just before serving, add scoops of lime sherbet and watch the punch bubble into green cactus juice! For a cooler drink, add drops of green food color into ice cube trays filled with water, freeze, and drop the cubes into the punch bowl.

Sufferin’ Sarsaparilla
Your guests will be sufferin’ to get their hands on this quick and easy sarsaparilla soda. Before the party, fill several ice trays with water, place a cherry into each compartment and freeze. Pour 1 Tbs. of grenadine syrup into each glass. Drop a frozen cherry ice cube into each glass. Pour cream soda over the ice, and watch a pink, foamy drink appear!
